A Sunday Morning in LA

A Sunday Morning in LA

I had to be down to Southern California for business over the weekend and decided to stay the night before flying home. Not living around L.A., it’s easy to forget just how much insanely-good car culture happens there on a daily basis, crammed into just a few area codes that make up the heart of SoCal. Unfortunately, I missed the Mooneyes Open house by the time I flew down and got my work out of the way, but I woke up Sunday morning, said prayers and headed to the Petersen Auto Museum. The timing was perfect, as it turns out they were throwing a hot rod cruise-in & rooftop bash for Ed Iskenderian’s 100th birthday (July 10th, 1921)! Walking around and checking out the 50 or 60 great cars parked up there, it was a great opportunity to see some old car friends there, before it got too hot. Poor Ed was swamped with admirers, so from Los Angeles I darted over to Van Nuys to check out the Gooding Auction preview for Pebble Beach, had time for lunch with a friend, and still flew home in time for dinner!
