British Car Designer Gets Prewar Hot Rods

Peter Stevens is a legend in British auto design. If you know your 80s and 90s era European sports cars, than the Lotus Elan M100, Lotus Esprit and perhaps the ultra-rare Jaguar XJR-15 would be familiar to you? How about the absolutely iconic McLaren F1 supercar? Yup, same guy designed all of these pretty amazing, fast vehicles. These days you might expect this 78 year old ex-designer to happily putt around the countryside of the Cotswolds in arsty-fartsy classic like a Citroen DS, maybe even in a hopped up Mini Cooper, but you would be dead wrong. Stevens actually digs traditional American hot rods, and his is prewar jalopy is definitely one worth checking out: Yes, a T Roadster body on a Model A chassis running a B Banger motor. What’s not to like about it? Listen to his passion as he describes driving it, look at the details in the build, watch his face as he drives it at speed… And you’ll know that he just gets it.
