Shooting Around at Bonneville in the 1960s

I’m usually pretty jazzed to find old, original Bonneville footage of Speed Week- Even better if it’s in color or with sound. Honestly, what could be better than watching hot rods in their prime, right? This particular footage is indeed race cars at Bonneville, but it really isn’t. Not just that it’s silent footage, but that every shot feels like a test for something bigger that never materialized. My best guess is that Mobil Oil sent film crews to the Salt Flats for some B roll footage as Speed Week was just getting started, but they never made an actual film out of it. Regardless, there are some good looking cars and interesting moments to enjoy…
