The 2020 H.A.M.B. Drag Nationals

As you might expect, I’ve been fielding a lot of questions about the 2020 H.A.M.B. Drags and whether or not it’s going to happen given the state of things at the moment. In prior years, registration opened in April and half the field was on the roster by May. This year, obviously, things are a bit different.

First, I have not cancelled the Drags yet. As of right now, I’m still hoping for a bit of a miracle… Some optimistic scientists are saying there is a possibility that social gatherings could happen safely by August and others are in deep denial that will be the case. I’m not a scientist and therefor, can’t make that call… All I can do is wait and see.

Frankly, I have my doubts. I can’t imagine this thing turning around to the point that we can put a few thousand people in a field by August. But I guess stranger things have happened… So, my hope is still alive.

I am not going to open pre-registration yet simply because I don’t want to take folk’s money during a time of hardship only to return it a couple of months later. To me, it just makes more sense to wait and see… and hope… and…
