Rodding in a Winter Wonderland

Rodding in a Winter Wonderland

It’s easy to get a little down in the dumps this time of year… The days are short, the nights are long, and depending where you live it might be raining or snowing every weekend for next few months. However, extremely cold weather doesn’t get the Swedes down one bit… I think they might actually prefer it by the clips you see below. The event is called ‘Älvis on Ice’, and every February the locals show up to this frozen lake about 4 hours north of Stockholm to have a little fun drag racing and circle tracking in their hot rods. I translated the Swedish text describing the event into this: “Welcome to Lobonäs and Älvis ON ICE. Here you can drive in a way that they haven’t even done in the US with their Hot Rods. ON ICE !! We may run a little nicer than the stock car races that were in Sweden in the ’40s and ’50s, but the feeling will be exactly the same. Although ON ICE is not a huge event, there must be a maximum limit to the number of cars. The limit is set to 40 cars. Pre-registration required.”

Frozen HAMB anyone?
