Another Featured Classifieds: 1957 Ford Ranchero

So last week’s featured classified ad turned into a real caper. Literally. The uhh… “investigation” is still ongoing, but it looks as though we might have discovered an honest-to-goodness scammer looking to screw some pore sap out of his hard earned money. We’ve identified the person that posted the ad by name and profession (health insurance guy), but I’ve yet to release that… and I guess I won’t until the guy has a chance to defend himself.

In any regard, what the hell man?

Not to be deterred by the swindler, I’ve decided to go with another featured classified ad this week. This time, I chose a 1957 Ford Ranchero out of Arizona. From the pictures, it looks to be a pretty clean car. I don’t see any obvious signs of rust or any evidence of hacking and other than the addition of a 4-speed, it’s pretty much a stocker.

A clean and blank canvas is what ya get… And what do you do with a blank Ranchero? I think I would lean towards the lines of Bill Moore’s 1957 Ford Ranchero that was built sometime in the late 1950’s. I’d skip the crazy upholstery work that Bill tortured through, but the shaved body, Edsel tailings, tube grille, and even the scallops? I’m all in man. Check it out:

Alternatively, you could go full-ass custom and salute the Tiago Ranchero:

You can’t go wrong either way really. I just ask that you do one thing for me. Please, please, please think about adding an asymmetrical hood scoop like Ron Volpe did to his drop top:

The potential is really endless and this featured classified isn’t a bad start if it is how it appears to be… But if we learned one thing last week, it’s that sometimes shit ain’t what it seems and sometimes it is is. Beware fellas, but also… be open to potential.
