2018 H.A.M.B. Drag Nationals – REGISTRATION IS OPEN!

If you are scholastic at all, you know that quote comes from the last line in one of the greatest American novels ever written – The Great Gatsby. Essentially, what Fitzgerald was saying was that as humans we are unable to move beyond the past and the harder we try to do so, the further back the current of life pushes us.

I often think about this notion and strive to prove it fallacious, but then I think about just what it is I’m so passionate about and I start to think Fitzgerald didn’t have it ALL figured out. I mean, what’s so damned bad about the past when the past is represented by such glorious simplicity.

The H.A.M.B. Drag Nationals is the perfect example of this… It’s almost exclusively stuck in the past. It’s feet are soaked in concrete at the depth of somewhere around 1958 and that’s just where I like it. Hell, push the current further and bore my ceaselessly further into history. I don’t care.

Neither should you.
