Bruce Glenn’s ’39 Ford- Early Post War Custom

The May ’54 issue of Rod & Custom has a feature called ‘Beating Detroit to the Punch’ about the Bruce Glenn Ford built by Harry “Westyguard” (yes, they really did screw up his iconic name) in 1945. The article touts the advanced features of this extremely early post war custom, including push button doors, ’41 Ford fuel door, Westergard’s fade-away belt line, and most of all the removable steel hardtop, which was added by Harry a few years after the car was initially built. It’s hard to imagine this style of custom was already old fashion by 1954, but it was 8 years old when the article was written. The photos were taken by an early Westergard apprentice from Sacramento named ‘G. Barris’.
