2014 H.A.M.B. Drags – A Tough One

2014 H.A.M.B. Drags – A Tough One

This was our twelfth H.A.M.B. Drags and honestly, this was probably our most ill prepared and least organized effort. We’ve had a pretty rough time in our family as of late and because of circumstances, we just weren’t able to put in the time that we would have liked too. I think it showed in a lot of areas, but because of the people that support us and the folks that we cater to, we were able to get through the event without our lack of preparation being too obvious.

We are still on the road back home and I plan on letting Joey post the actual event coverage later this week… All I really wanted to do today was thank everyone for being so understanding and so patient with us this weekend. You all made a pretty rough time a lot easier and my family appreciates you more than I could ever type. Thank you all from the bottom of my heart.

Of course, I also have some specifics to hand out:

1. As always, the girls rocked the merch booth. Holly, Jill, Katie, and my wife are as big a part of the H.A.M.B. Drags as anyone and they’ve really kind of become the face of this deal. I love them all.

2. Carl and everyone at MoKan… We got off to a bit of a late start due to early morning rain and then we were threatened again late in the day. As the storm approached, we decided to start eliminations after only two time trial sessions.  After we got through elims, the storm really began to threaten but Carl and the boys kept the track open so that folks could get more runs in if they wanted. It was a really gracious act… and one I think everyone appreciated. We literally raced right up until the storm hit because MoKan wanted to make damn sure we didn’t leave any fun on the table.

3. Kevin and Dan… They’ve owned the pit gate for years. This year, their job was made harder by the fact that I was unable to get registration packets in the mail. So, they not only had to man the regular traffic but they had to check in registered cars as well. I never saw either of them sweat. Two of my best pals.

4. Ryno. Thank you man. For everything.

5. Texas. My boys from Austin always show up in force to support me and the event. You know who you are. I know who you are. And I love you all. Seriously.

6. All of the OG event attendees… I know you all work hard every year to keep this deal focused and keep this race feeling like it is supposed to. Really, the H.A.M.B. Drags are all yours.
