The Casual Custom

The Casual Custom

So the new forum layout on the H.A.M.B. has been mildly successful in some ways and wildly successful in others. I think my absolute favorite development has been the period focused forums for both traditional hot rods and customs. Because those forums are so intensely focused, they move slower and as a result I don’t feel as though I miss as much. A great example is the small project thread posted by Eric H covering his ’51 Ford convertible.

It’s what I call a casual custom. I don’t know Eric and don’t pretend to know his plans for this car, but it seems as if this is a build and drive project. Meaning, he’s driving and enjoying the car while making small improvements and changes aimed towards making the car a simple and clean custom when it’s finally finished. I love that casual approach and often think it leads to some of the best cars… The type of cars I really love driving.

Anyway, if you have some time today stop by his thread and check it out here. To me, cars like this are what make the H.A.M.B. what it is… and I can’t wait to further improve the place to promote such cars. It’s funny, almost twenty years in and we are still very much a work in progress.
