The Art of the Sleeper…

The Art of the Sleeper…

Not sure if this 2011 video has been posted before, but “Icons & Derelicts” features the work of Icon CEO Jonathan Ward, as he walks through the extensive efforts his shop went through to maintain a old timey/ stock appearance to customers “derelict” cars,  a ’52 Chrysler T & C wagon (which Hot Rod magazine called “The Worlds Best Beater”), and a same year Chevy coupe for another customer which was displayed at SEMA last year. I’m a bit torn when I watch this film and listen to what the shop owner is saying. To be clear, I love well designed and planned out customs with patina- When it’s honest. Are these cars trying just a little too hard to cleverly cover up their entirely modern intentions? Maybe not. Maybe I’m just getting old and cranky.
