If you could have only ONE…

If you could have only ONE…

Josh Clason and his “Depth of Speed” films have beautifully covered the salt of Bonneville and the NSP Boogie Van, but I found “Poetry in Motion”, this story of a man and his one true dream car since childhood extremely compelling. Before you go cry-posting that a Mercedes 300SL is off topic, just listen to what this owner is saying, and then replace his car with a 36 three window, 39 Zephyr coupe, a 32 Roadster, or whatever your ultimate dream car is. This guy built a model of the Gullwing coupe at 10 years old and knew he had to have one some day, regardless of the odds. It took him 30 years of determination and focus to get the car, but he did it, and he and his wife drive it hard, often, and cross country, despite how much it costs or how rare it is. You can hear his excitement about just washing it, and his genuine sadness at the thought of using a trailer or not being able to drive his one true love someday. Dare I say, he has the spirit of a hot rodder?

Poetry in Motion – 300SL Gullwing
