Roadster?

Roadster?

I wanted to run this February, 1954 feature from Car Craft Magazine mostly because I love the cover, but I also totally dig T-roadsters on deuce rails. And this one is different from most in that the body is actually channeled over the rails a few inches. Normally, this act creates some funkiness where the straight line of the cowl meets the graceful sweep of the deuce frame’s reveal. Sal Machia and Lou Banto, however, came up with an ingenious solution – they hid the funk with exhaust.

Of course, there is other cool stuff going on here as well. I love the simple dash and gauge arrangement, the straight bar headlight mount is tits, and why don’t folks paint their hot rods red anymore? This little roadster proves it’s a timeless color and the whitewalls really make it pop.

It ain’t all show and no go either… The little flathead was mean enough to push this car to 105 mph in the quarter… in 1954…

Damnit fellas. I love old cars.
