Tom Medley

Tom Medley

I’m sure most of you have heard by now… Tom Medley, the man with a pencil behind Stroker McGurk, survived a pretty nasty fire late last week that apparently took out his garage, his ’40 coupe, and a lot of other valuables. It’s a disaster that needs to be put into perspective. I’m sure Tom is hurting right now, but that’s a good thing. After all, Tom is here to hurt.

I’ve only met Tom once. It was about 10 years ago and I was introduced to him by my mentor – Wally Parks. It was one of those deals where Wally made the intro and then moved on – leaving my socially awkward self alone with a guy that is famous for being an extrovert. Needless to say, Tom carried the conversation. He asked about the “website” mentioned by Wally, pretended to know about it, and made me feel completely adequate. I couldn’t have been more appreciative.

Earlier this year, Rod & Custom Magazine did a little piece on Tom. I thought it would be appropriate to feature that piece today in hopes that maybe Tom will see it and a little perspective might come into focus for him. You can see that feature here.
