It's gonna be one to remember Art:)
I think I'm gonna throw my 4.56's on Craig's list and look for a set of 5.14's just to make sure I keep the old 289 wound up nice and tight.:)

I think we need to do short starting line interviews with both drivers,to talk a little smack first, then do big burnouts past the starting line, and dry hops like the old days.Im gonna do mine with the door open like Hubert Platt:)

    That was just hurtful Tony.

I will do my burnout BEFORE I pull
2 plug wires off to make it a fair race;)

Now where on earth did you ever score that little gem Salty?
That looks like it might be a real gem in the hands of a crafty tuner such as yourself:)

This one has had the dividers machined out and the ribs in the floor filled in. Not sure how it will work but it looks like it could help the top end.
Not many options for a 409.

  14. CRANK SCRAPPER? Don't scrap that crank! LOL... ;)

Hey Saltflats I have a intake currently in development for a 348/409 that will have a bigger opening and a bolt pattern for a weiand belt driven air cleaner but unfortunatly won't quite be ready for the meltdown this year but as soon as it is I'll give you a shout that is if you are intrested

Boy bet I can make those 409 parts even harder to find with one of them.

    beebee78-

I think that it will live up to the hype. I was talking to a few folks about it and they want it to be close and entertaining, so they recommended I shift at 5k rpm to keep it close. I guess I will try that.

    Lots of hype...
You guys better hope it doesn't end on the starting line with broken parts and leaking fluids...

That sounds like my sex life... oh well.. same problem... starts with a lot of hype and then there's a lot of hope everything holds together with no broken parts or leaking fluids...

You better double the rpms if you wanna keep up;)

It's gonna be more of a chase than a race anyway, based on your past reaction times:D

Trust me when I tell you... Red Bull does not help your reaction time. I'm pretty sure I was so wired that I launched on the top staging bulb.

I made the mistake on the way down last year of taking an extra strength 5 Hr Energy and then a Red Bull 20 minutes later because I still felt sleepy. That combination gave me tunnel vision at 3am on the highway and I flintched eveytime we passed one of the 10,000 construction markers. Pretty sure I could feel my teeth itch and my bones tingling.

    Weeee. I can hear Colors.....

Also, slamming a 6 pack of 5 hr Energy does NOT give you 30 hrs of energy.

I am just finishing my Merc this winter. I am hoping to drive it to the MeltDown Drags this year. It isn't a track car, but it will look good parked in the car show area. I wish I had a FED or Comp Coupe to pull behind it on an open trailer, but that is a project for another year.

  27. If you want to shift @5500 rpm, just get an adjustable modulator for that Sissyhydromatic, and leave it in drive. That way you'll have a free hand to punch yourself in the eye, for messing with the Lockness Wanker.
