OK not really found but brought back into the light. Desertratrodder and I were at Billy Hines' shop in the late summer and I just got the pix back so I thought I'd share. "The Budda Buggy" was built in '60 by Bill. It was toured for awhile then was sold to a school teacher. He parked it back in the early '60s. Now it's back at Billy's for a freshen up. All Bill is going to do is give it a new squirt job and new interior. It still runs like a clock. And the same guy still owns it. See the knobs on the door and the dash...Bob Hirohata (yep that Hirohata) made all the knobs for it. Bill said he was a wizard with plastics. Got invited back for a update so I'll let you know how it looks.
I love old customs the Matador was next door at Autoweave upholstery a couple of years back for the restoration and man was that thing cool to check out.
Hey there Shane, Nice find, you've just gotta love those lost treasures. Put some bigger pics up for us if you can. I still owe you the pics of that '47 merc dash in the C-dan, it came out killa. LSM
I wondered whatever happen to that car,,,like many kusoms.....Its sooo kool to see it all still intact!
I REALLY want to see how it worked out. The measurements were SO close on paper. Let's try some bigger pix...
more...It's really cool how everything was still there. The tool kit, tv inside, and even the tail lights are still intact. TRJ is doing a spread on it soon I think.
Man!!! This has to be the best executed car Bill Hines ever built....and the best 59 I ever saw customized! Usually they[59's] end up looking worse than a stocker......
Great photo's cant wait to see it all restored to its former glorie. Here are a few pictures of how it looked in the 60's
If the Rodders journal does an article they will dig up ALL of the history, pictures, etc. Can't wait to see it in print again. How cool is it that it's come back "home" for a redo. Priceless! Frank
That's awesome! I'm glad to see its finally getting the treatment that it deserves. Those tail lights are kick ass! Keep us posted!
How cool is that. Definatly one of the best 59's ever done. And just think, now he can get cable or satelite tv
One of my all time favorites. I built a model of that when I was a kid and it came out pretty good.Wish I had it today. Thanks for sharingthis. Keep us updated.
Forget, best '59 Chevy custom ever, maybe the best ever of any custom. I love that car, I'm glad it's still alive and such great shape.
