After my Saturday at the hardcore happening, I decided to head down Sunday and check out the cars running at the Nostalgia Gold Cup in Leicester NY. I’ve never seen so many cool old gassers and drag cars all together in one place! Unfortunately I had to leave early, so I missed most of the eliminations, but I was able to get some pics of the time trials, and some of the cool stuff that was hanging out in the pits. It was tough to get any good pics from up in the stands with the camera gear I have, but here’s some of what I saw.

WOW great pics, that 55 chev early on was crazy tall, you'd need a step ladder to get in it.
    And where were the crowds?

What is wrong with America is the lack of spectators in those stands. What happened to the acceptance of our sport to a wider audience? The only people who attend the events are the participants. Great cars but disappointing crowd action.

I was there all day Saturday as a non racer. Not many spectators, less than 1000. Empire Dragway looks a bit hillbilly but the track itself is fine.15 bucks to get in is very reasonable. It's a low key place where you can get close to the race cars and no one hassles you.I've been to this track many times in the past and the spectator crowd varies because of....................
Now don't get this wrong as the cars and action were first class, but it's bracket racing. All the cars except for maybe one competition car and three somewhat stock muscle cars were automatic transmissions, and probably with a tranny brake. All the cars launch the same way,no difference due to tire spin, gear shifting ability etc.I fully understand that racing is competitive, you have to have the equipment to win.And the reliability of modern auto race transmissions.
But for the casual spectator,it's not all that exciting.

Thanks so much for posting all the great pictures.

For me it really brings back the good old of drag racing to someone who can no longer do it anymore.

Keeping the memories alive it what it is all about in my mind

Special thanks Jim Hill Nostalgic Racing Decals

Great pics. I wish we could have been there, but it was nice to see a bunch of my friends made it. Next year, I hope!
