1st ride I remember (family car when I was pre-school) was a '49 Buick Super (three portholes) just like that one. I look forward to your build

Man that is cool. I always wanted to do one these. My dad had one in the early 50's it was one of my favorite car that he owned and they are getting really hard to find.

Hi Darren...The Caddy was originally a 49 fleetwood... was on its way to the crushers...Probally the only one in Australia..maybe a embassy car as it is RHD.......Chopped the top 4 1/2" at the front and 5 1/2" at the back to get stance flow...Have been plodding along on getting the left door finished...had to stretch it to make a two door..and shift pillar back...it all ties in with replacing the sill (rocker panel) and all the related sheet metal fabrication from the dog leg to the hinge pillar which had to be rebuilt as it was all missing or cheese with rust...I'll post some more pics in my album in the next few days........Doug

So what's with all the marks on the top of the Buick if you are not going to chop it...former owner...?
I'll be watching this one as I have a '48 Caddy sedanet in my shed awaiting... And Morac41, I'm interested in yours as well...is it going to be a hardtop or a post car when your done...??? I just finished up on my '55 Caddy Coop Deville...drove it this summer to a lot of events...if you've got a few hours to kill and look at pix, you can see the complete 5 year build here: http://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/showthread.php?t=329070&highlight=the+best+55+caddy+build R-

I will also follow this build. Have had a 49 Sedanette since the mid 90's. Work on it when other projects are on hold. All the body work is done, M-II installed, caprice rear grafted to original trailing arms. 455 Buick big block. Will try to send you some pictures. I may have some extra parts. Dash, some external SS trim, front fender, etc. If I can help let me know

here is the right hand rear quarter, as you can see a pretty ugly repair form the previous owner, not to sure what he was thinking welding a patch over the panel bolt holes. i am going to cut this out and start again. cheers darren
