Hey guys.....hate to be the bearer of bad news, but I just got word that Larry Alexander of the "Alexander Brothers" has been hospitalized after a mini stroke. Larry need all of your thoughts and prayers right now, and hopefully we can help him pull through this!
Bummer this kind of news I don't like. Grasp these legends guys and gals because they aren't getting any younger. I hope he has a healthy recovery.
Here's to a fast recovery! Haven't ever met Larry, but Mike was one of the nicest guys I've ever met. I can only imagine the same of his brother. Get well soon!
Coming from Detroit, I remember the Alexander Bros were the backbone of the custom car scene. Prayers for a quick recovery.
I had the honor of spending a day with Larry when we interviewed him for mad fabricators..... It was great hearing him tell stories of the early candy jobs painted in a garage with a dirt floor and snow coming in the garage door! Larry Alexander is a hero of mine. Please get well!
I was lucky enough to hang out at their shop on Grand River and Littlefield, in Detroit, in 1960-61 at age 15-16. Mike was the quiet one. I wish you the best Larry..........
Here's hoping for a fast and total recovery. The A bros built some fine automobiles. Hang in there Larry.
Dennis Heapy left a message on my site that Larry passed away this morning. R.I.P. Larry Thanks you for all you have left for us.
Ohhh wow damn...RIP Larry. This is bad news to start the day out. Thoughts and prayers go out to the family.
Such sad news............another good, talented man leaves us. I'm remembering when he quoted me $150 to chop my '29 Model A coupe (just chop, no finish/paint) in 1960 when I turned 16. Might as well have been $10,000 for a guy making $.75/hr working in a grocery store after school. RIP Larry, you will be missed. Frank
We will all miss Larry. I met him and his brother Mike at the Detroit Autorama a few years back when they were so rightfully being honored for their efforts over the years. I purchased the commemorative poster penned by Dave Bell and both brothers signed it for me as well has having a nice chat for a while when they could have been talking to someone much more important than me. This is what I so enjoy about all of our automotive heros, they are for most parts great people unlike the "Hollywood Heros". I will certainly miss Larry Alexander and hope to meet Mike yet again. My prayers go out to the Alexander family at this time. R.I.P. Larry, I will look forward to meeting you yet again some day. Chris Stapley.
One of the best times I ever had filming MFS was interviewing Mike and Larry.. we spent the first day with Mike interviewing him for 5 hours.. we even had a home cooked meal and sat down for dinner with Mike and Mrs. Alexander.... the next morning we woke up and headed out to Larry's and he was happy to see us and welcomed us into his home.. he told some of the greatest stories about the old days as we sat around him and Laughed.. he even had a Bleed sticker in "Hot ROd" room... I was just thinking about Larry the other day hoping he was doing well..but I guess after his mini stroke he was not doing so well.. Larry was a true legend and one of my hero's for sure... RIP.
