  1. The credit for the original idea for challenge 12 goes to Jigger, he sent me a pm shortly after the last challenge ended and i thought it was pretty awesome..

    SPEED EQUIPMENT

It's really at the core of the hot rod world, the parts bought for speed. It's what we all lust after, it's art in itself.

The topic is completely open to interpretation, but it must be art that is created specifically for this art challenge and created by you.

Here is some inspiration, these photos taken from the HAMB:

    Cool...Nate!

Does it have to be authentic or can we add lib? (This is one I posted on the FAS and is not to be entered in the contest)

Very cool guys! Is the deadline a month again? Gentlemen, start your pencils!

  4. forty, it can be anything that fits the bill, I even thought some imagined gimmick thing from the 50's would be cool. It's up to you guys.

If anyone has something speed related to offer up for a prize (big or little) that would be super cool too.

    Great idea!...I'm in for $300...

Nate, I'll let you decide if you want it all to go to first place...or if you want to break it up.

  8. You're a great guy Larry!

Lets see if anyone else has a prize to offer up and then will divide up the first three places or whatever.

  12. nice zach!

I would like to say that this challenge is completely open. Any form of "art".. loosely defined... is fair game*. It must follow the regular art challenge rules, especially being created specifically for the challenge, but I'd like to see how you guys push the topic and what you can come up with.

    *art photography too!

I am up for another one of our shirts as usual.

I will also dig around and see if I can find a spare rebuildable Stromberg 97 to give as a "Speed prize".

I will let you know if I find one Nate.

    Tnx,
    Nate

    Bump
Here is my submission for the Art Challenge.
This was done ONLY for the art challenge. I started this 3 days ago. I have been too busy lately with work and it felt good to be getting back to paintings.
I still have not decided if I'm quite done with it yet. Looks like speed equipment to me.

I like the way the angle of reflection mimics the relative angles of cylinders in an engine block. Nice work, LOWCAB!

Cool , I will refine this and go with it. I have an old Bosch Figure Head from the 20's that inspired me to do this one. The driver is "Camille Jenatzy" look him up if you get a chance. I think I spelled his name right but the car he is driving held a record of some sort in France I beleieve.

I admit I was disappointed that the Challenge wasn't woodies...seems like allot Hambers had interest in a Wood series...

Just found out I have Cancer, and it looks like I will not be able to work on real hotrod wood for quite a while...

I may not be able to participate if wood art is later down the road....dont know how well I will be then..with radiation and chemo , friday I am going under the knife again...lol

    Wood Speed Parts

maybe you need these rare woodheads...or
