It's kinda like scheduling a car show in Austin on the same day as the Roundup!
![]() Is there any reason why you guys couldn't do it on Sunday? Sam

....i think the best idea to pull off for the future would be to combine a weekend with the Revolution Saturday and the Lucky Bastards Reliably Run (which is Aug 31 this year) the next day. That makes for a great north of the bridge weekend....
-scott noteboom Ah Ha ! Pebble Beach North Xtra points (fun) for participating in both events. Stinson Beach is great spot.. so does this mean I would actually have to put my car on the road sometime instead of my continued lip service ?? |

This is really the best idea, it happended that way the first year and it made for a fun filled weekend. I live close enough that it's not an issue, but for out or town people it makes a better reason to come on up to Nor-Cal. How about it folks ?

The reason we held the show later last year was because I needed more than 5 days between the drags and the revolution. There just wasn't enough days to get my shit together.
That said, I'll contact those guys and see what they have going next year. As for this year, we are working on some other stuff to do on Friday and maybe even Sunday. On Friday, we might just open up Vern's place again just to have a place to hang out... On Sunday, we usually drive somewhere out in the wine country and get lunch.

"Hell, we aren’t competition anyway…
And let’s be real about all of this. Technically speaking, the Revolution is just an excuse for the Tardels and Cochrans to get together..." Some people are having to make a decision between the two - that sounds like competition to me. Two shows dedicated to traditional hot rods and kustoms on the same day in the same general area - again, sounds like competition to me. If it's just a Cocran and Tardell deal, why invite other people, promote it and make t-shirts etc? It's OK to say that it's a full-blown car show because that's what it is. There sure as hell is nothing wrong with that. I'm sure the number of people who will choose the Revolution over Billetproof will be small because so many have been part of it and made it their event for so long, but it just sucks to make HAMBers have to decide between two cool shows they'd like to attend. There aren't many related shows for us and now two important ones are on the same day? Keith Tardell is one of the coolest and most talented people on the planet and I'm bummed to not be able to check out something he's involved in. I know I'd like to do both, but I'll sure as hell be at Billetproof. Allen may have adopted my baby, but I still love her and all of my friends that go. A Saturday/Sunday thing with Billetproof, like the Vultures and Strangers gig, sure would have been cool. I'm not trying to be a dick at all, but Billetproof has been on the same weekend for 12 years. What a bummer.

Man, tough call as I was looking forward to both shows. I have been to Billetproof for past couple of years and always had a great time and looking forward to this year too. Never been to the Rev show yet, but was really hoping to make it this year. Hmm, what to do, what to do.....? Just a little too far apart to realistically try to hit up both in the same day.

Sorry Kirk. I'd be a little miffed too if I were in your shoes. I think you would feel a little better if you had ever been to one of the Revolutions, but still... I can understand. I'm bummed to.
Still, I'm gonna have a damn good time that weekend.

Ryan,
Vern and Keith filled me in on the conundrum you all face. That's tough, but I don't think it effects the regular Revolution attendants. We're too old to go to Billetproof and wade through all those damn people. The Revolution is more our speed and I think you know how much we appreciate the work you, Kieth, and those two girls do. What's this I hear about the Cobb roadster showing up? And maybe even a few more cars we used to play with when we were kids? I'm excited! |
