This one popped up on the NHRA list this morning. Vintage video from Long Island International. It's all pretty decent stuff, but the kicker comes at the 6-minute mark - funny car racing... in the snow!... To read the rest of this blog entry from The Jalopy Journal, click here. |

Excellent!! Lots of famous cars, and a bunch of cool ones that weren't so famous. Thanks, Ryan.

This just reinforces the fact that I was born 20 years too late......and that NHRA drag racing today just sucks.......
Thanks alot.......

Towards the beginning, was that a Jag coupe all cut up or an Opal? All motor and tires.... sweet.

Thanks for that one. Wow.
Yep that's an E-Type Jag all cut up. I'd never have seen it ....Holy Crap 2000 + posts on the other thread. I thought I'd been out at the track in some pretty crummy weather until I saw the snow piles in that video. At first I thought, no way. Imagine how hard it would have been to hookup. Esp. without the sticky stuff we have today and the old tire compounds. Might as well throw some water out there for them to slide on.

Thanks, Ryan, that was really cool. I actually saw a field of eight race floppers in the snow at Penwell (your stomping grounds) in about 1970.Dick Harrell was there!!

it looked like a snowy track was somewhat "unpredictable" in nature.
