Some time ago I recieved an email from Chrestian Willhans an Artist and Custom Car / Hot Rod enthusiast from Sweden.
He send me some line drawings of some custom cars that he worked on for the last couple of month. He mentioned that he was working on a childerens coloring book about Hot Rods and Custom Cars. Inspired by his own son and his passion for these cars.
The reason why he emailed me was that he had used my website a lot for his inspiration and as referance for his drawings. I was honnered to be able to help him with his great project and I was very impressed with the artwork he showed me back then.

Last week I recieved an anvelope from Chrestian.
Two copies of his freshly printed Rod & Custom Colouring Book... and wow they did look really great!!!
A very nicely done super glossy cover but even better is the high quality paper used on the inside. Much better quality that I have seen on many coloring books. I cant really wait untill my two and a half year old son gets a little older and be able to get some really cool colors on these cars.... I guess I cant even wait that long and will give it a try as soon as the days get shorter... these books are definitly not for childeren only.

Here are a few photos I took of the book and below is a link to more photos and info on the book where to order etc.

Love it. My girls would get a kick out of coloring customs, but they scribble too much for one now.

  9. Are those printed single-sided? If so, it's even more brilliant than you guys realize.

We need to get a distributor to buy a case (or two or three) and sell them over here.

I am very impressed. Like everyone said, heck with the kids, I wanna color!

    $11.50 U.S. +$7.50 for shipping per book.

    paypal.

We need a mass order - maybe the price will come down a shade...

I'm getting myself one regardless - but if we want to do a mass buy - I'm on board.

Talk about getting a kid off on the right foot!

I'm getting it for one of my best friend's little kid who - even though he's only 6 - actually appreciates my custom and talks about it all the time.

That metalflake cover is tits! I wonder how he pulled that off in print?

    Hi all!

First let me say a BIG thank you for all the wonderful feedback Im getting here! I havent got this much encouragement for my work since I dropped out of kindergarten!
Also a GIANT thans to Rikster who posted this here.
    This feels really great.
Alot of people has told me this would never work since I started working on this book four years ago. Let's prove them wrong! I'm already planning the next one but as for now I have alot of my savings in these books. If I sell them I promise to invest in a new book!

    Hi Sancho!
Yeah. Theire printed single sided. I remember when I was a kid (THATS long ago!) the agony when the markers would "bleed" through and wreck the image on the backside. As an adult I have now tried to avoid that. We've also used the thickest paper we could for the inside.

I'm with you on this one.
Who has an online store where this product would fit in?
Who has a real life store where it would fit?
    Do you?
Do you know someone who has?
Send me a pm and we might be able to work something out!

    That's pretty cool!

What happened to the HAMB coloring book? I contributed 2 or 3 drawings and haven't heard a peep since...

    Hi Silhouettes!
I think I saw that book a year back or so, and its important to me to point out that I had already started work on my book back then, but your friends work inspired me to continue my work.

Very cool indeed! Maybe a Connect-the-Dots? How cool would it be to do a Connect-the-Dot of the Matranga or Hirohata merc! Or even the Pierson Brothers coupe!

Maybe one of the Alliance Vendors could do something...

    Could be cool.

I really want a bunch of these -- the cost might curb that down to a couple though.

let's pool the resourses and see if we can't figure out how to do this.

    Hi Broman!
Yeah. It would be a great thing if someone on this forum could take the book up and distribute it in the States.
The postage is a big cost as it is now.
The book itself is pretty cheap considering that its not printed in China and that we used the best materials for it.

Some of you have asked me how I have done the book, so it may be of interest for others too:

All the drawings are made by hand. Old style stuff with ink and paper.
Some of the grilles / mesh have been made in the computer, but apart from that is all by human hand.
The printshop wants everything digitized anyway so I usually fix small imperfections with the computer as I scan the images.
