With all the feedback I have been getting on this build, I am a quite humbled, and I don't want to do a "look-at-me post, but I feel I "owe" a final report after roof insert, glass and hub caps. If you are sick of looking at this car, hit the BACK button now. So how did it come out? Well, pretty decent...It's a handful to drive, and a blast at the same time. With so much power on hand, and a short wheel base, it can get pretty squirrelly. At full throttle you really have to "aim" it. If you ever read about new cars, they talk a lot about the NVH factor. Noise, Vibration and Harshness. This thing has it all in HIGH levels, and I'm loving every bit of it. Turns out that the transmission really needs a rebuilt, so I have to be careful so I don't blow it up right a way. About the tri-power: I ended up replacing the outer carb bases with stock units, with idle jets, and then synchronize them at idle. I also set the secondary's to kick in earlier. I am using 45 jets in all the carbs, but I am thinking of going with 48's or so in the center carb, for a little fatter mid range cruising. It idles a little high, but it sure beats no idle. The choice finally fell on '40 Deluxe caps. Clean and simple. After getting the carbs in decent order, I could add the chrome nut covers for some detail. Ok, one more artsy fartsy... There you have it. A hot rod ready to rumble. I still have a lot of adjustments etc to make, but it's a running driving hot rod, and DAMN is it fun ! Ford meet here we come ! I am going to attempt some sort of interior next.
Rolf, in no way am I sick of watching your build. That car is so bitchin. You did a great job building it and a great job recording it. Very, very nice, fuckin' a, did I say I really dig it ?
Man I love this car. I can't find one thing I don't like about it. Thanks for sharing your build with us.
I have been on the HAMB many-a-year and this is one of the nicest cars that's ever been featured here. Someone said "God is in the details". When I look at your car, I feel like I am at church. Very well done.
Dude, that is a sweet looking car!!! We are building a car similar to that right now at my shop. The one we are buiding is going to have a really built 371 olds motor. Your nailhead looks really good, congrats on a solid build. Jimmy White
