DOD at Little River was a Hoot and I have not had this much fun since 64 the last year I ran the 1/4 mile. The old 1940 Chevy D-Gas who had not been on the strip for over 40 years and is exactly like she was when she was built in 1958 with a GMC 302 bored to 320, Spalding 290 cam, 5-97's, a 1937 LaSalle tranny and a 1951 Pontiac rear end made me proud. Next time you see her she will be sporting a 4.56 gear, and slicks which by all calculations will put her back to the her original best of 14.0 ET at 101 mph.

MaxCackle,
Y'all take some of the most awsome pictures at the races!!! You got the Flathead FED coming off the line with all of the haze coming off of the tires and butterflys open...and with my fogged up shield(I gotta find a solution to that )You also have one with Chet Beatty coming off the line in his 6cyl 40 Chevy with the biggest smile on his face!(he, also, is a "re-born kid"). There is one with Bill Conlee telling his girlfriend "I'm not bullshittin this time", and numerous other "in the moment" pictures. Thanks for your post.....and THANKS for the picture that you brought by.

Little river has always been a great place to race, great people, big shade trees and a river just behind the burnout box. Was a little tricky when it was a 1/4 mile track, needed great brakes. Now it is a great DoD race too.
