Anyone know the story behind the black Vette. I followed the guys from Midwest (Fons, Arons, Gianino and Kanners) in these 56/57 Vettes in Berkley a bit starting in 67 but this looks to be 66 or maybe 65. The red Vette appears to be Sam Gianino's small block "The executioner" before removing the hardtop and running in D/G mainly (68 and 69). Kanners drove a black Vette like this in 68-69 without the top in B/G and I believe Mike Fons drove a 57 as well. I cannot make out the name on the hardtop of the black Vette and cannot figure who was driving the car then-any guesses?

They ran some great cars out of Midwest with the guys mentioned above and Booth and Maskin, wish I could run across more pictures like this one-Thanks Muttley-Jim

Yup, I'm the guy that put together that video on YouTube. I didn't take the pics-- they're just taken from my collection of drag pics from the Net. Nice to see some of them show up here!

Didn't see if you had a reply to your question of the location of these shots. It is Keystone Raceway in New Alexandria, PA, outside of Pittsburgh. The track is still in existence, now known as Pittsburgh Raceway Park. Owned by the Tedesco family. Their cars were known as 'Hustler'. Great people that know how to take care of the racers and spectators, and have sunk a ton of dough into the place. I read an interview with Dean Skuza in the 90's and he said this track was the scariest place he'd ever raced at. He should go back- it's a great track.

Thanks for the info. I'll bring that up with old man when I see him.
I don't recall going to a Keystone Raceway but it was a long time ago.
Funny, I run at Dragway 42 sometimes & at the end of the season they
take a Team 42 fleet of cars to race other tracks teams in the division at
the Pittsbugh Raceway Park. Thanks again - Smoke

Tom, he has built several bikes with using the sbc. He is very talented and although he has a trailer shop, the shop looks more like a complete machine shop. He builds them from ground up and uses a crower glide for a tranny. As you might imagine, they are very powerfull. He started flying over 30 years ago and in fact his son Robbie has been flying for American Airlines for several years. Drop by his shop in raytown and say howdy. He would enjoy it. Mike
