Well, you might remember the story of our trade and trip to Wisconsin last weekend. Since then I had some maintenance done on the car and today we have had a record setting 71 degrees and it was time for a road test. My first drive. I don't have any video but I did pull off the main road and snap some still photos of it. Really runs good and the cam smooths out nicely at highway speed. Not as happy with the dirt track knobby rear tires. Just didn't handle good at high speed on the pavement. Will replace those next weekend I hope. Then will try it again if the weather is good. This car was built by Flathead Pete in MI who sold it to Bobwop in WI and now owned by me and my good pal Cuzzindeke. Keeping it in the Hamb family. Pete is an old school Hamber and called this car the "Peter Beater" and it has been on the Hamb alot over the years as he built it. Bobwop is fairly new to the Hamb and is a straight up guy. I would not hesitate to buy another car from him. He is a classic car dealer in Jefferson, WI. You can see his cars here: www.topnotchvehicles.com . See you down the road.....

Nice to see that this good looking car is staying in the HAMB family.

I'm sorry to hear that the knobbies don't work well because I really liked the looks of them on that car.

That is one slick little peeler ! ! And I can second that info on Bobwop ! !

He is kinda "goofy looking" but ONE HELL of a straight shooter. Trying to con him out of one of his cars right now ! !

I have a half dozen pics of that car from last years Billetproof Detroit. Neat car.

  17. Neat little car, can you give us some specs as to the some of its parts?

Yes, here are some specs: It has a very different powerplant than most hot rods. Jeep 258 six banger with new Demon high performance 2 barrel, lumpy cam, headers, Offenhouser intake, GM HEI distributor, high torque mini starter, Walker radiator, Model A front axle with Chevy spindles and front disc brakes, homemade connecting rod friction shocks on the front, spring behind axle front and rear, with split bones, 37 Ford banjo rear, open drive line, automatic tranny, hand grenade shifter, quick release removable steering wheel, Land Cruiser steering box, etc. Glass body, skinny 16 wheels and bias tires. Aluminum bomber seats with vinyl seat covers. Not a traditional car but a very fun one.

Paul, I am pleased to hear you guys sorted out the vac leak at the carb. Couldn't be much more simple than that! I know it is a hoot to drive and the guys that drove it around at the Hunnert said it feels like it wants to take off and fly at highway speed. Bummer that the knobbies aren't comfy at speed, cause they look cool on the car. Thanks for the PR and your confidence.

I was dinking around with the truck you traded me and left the ignition key on too long. You know what burning electronics smell like...oh shit, smoked the points. Well, to my surprise, it has a Pertronix electronic ignition. Good news, exect when you screw up like I did. Had to order the module and it will take a week. $100. But I love Pertronix and feel it adds another dimension to the performance. So now we have all lights, including the fogs, working and the air assist suspension works too.

  21. I really like the whole set-up povertyflats. Are you going to do anything to it or just run-it? Either way sweet trade man.-Weeks

  22. Maybe you can use a couple of E-tanks, instead of the aluminum gas tank...
I am going to be using an M-6 as an overflow tank...

For those of you who don't know, my friend here is talking about aluminum medical oxygen tanks. I'm not going to use them but they would work.

Thanks, I want to change the rear tires, add some trim rings to the front wheels, and change the position of the pedals to allow more leg room. Maybe add some bare bones interior panels. But that's about all I will do.
