These are all Stewart Warners except the outer two on the upper row. They are probably made by US Gauge Co. The speedo is an SW that was converted to higher speed by the Maring Co.
These are called "Twin Blue" <= for real!! It irks me to no end when people call these things by names like Custom Series or Greenline. There's too much mis-information in this hobby, so stop perpetuating if you don't know. I have the catalogs to show it. As for finding tachs and speedos in the Twin Blue pattern, you will see 200 small gauges to every speedo you find. And, most of the speedos are marine, so they won't have an odometer. Tachs are almost as rare, unless you want an electric, and they are only half as rare. Yes, I'm passionate about gauges.
Thanks Alchemy; I appreciate the info. I tried a Google search of "the Maring company" and turned up zilch. What do you know about them? Patrick
That's from Deuce Day at the petersen, I think... I took a bunch of photos of that one. It's one of those cars that doesn't call a lot of attention to itself, but once you start looking at it, you realize it's perfect.
Hey Myke...that speedo guage looks very close to the 140 mph guage that was in the Venus, except for placement of the odometer. Does that speedo have any kind of year date on it? Patrick
English stuff? C Jag American stuff Miller........1915 International Harvester Times were simpler in 1915 French........ 1932 Rosengart Van
Great post.. Heres my 33 Plymouth insert in the roadster, the gauges were junk, so I cheated and put new gauges behind the stock plymouth bezels. .
Here's a few shots of gauges where they belong.. Bobby Green's roadster.. Speed King 3 window cockpit..
McLoad- Yup, pretty neat, huh? Still has the mounting bracket attached as well. Since then, I hit every $1 pile I see hoping to finding more cool stuff. I also picked up (both are now sold) a Judson blower gauge & an Eelco white faced amp gauge for $.10 cents at a garage sale. Guy was a VW nut & had them in a Bug.
?? so what do they call the blue ones? twin green? there is nothing at all blue about this one.. I have seen blue ones on ebay, but that could be due to lighting or whatever. as a matter of fact.. I believe the buyer of this one had purchased or was selling the ones I saw that were definitly blue on my monitor. I call them green ones because they are green. did SW call them blue? not that important really... just call them cool.
They made them up into the mid-1960's, and they are basically the same size and layout as a 1934 Ford SW speedo. They were calibrated with higher tolerances for measurement and accurate speed estimates.
