    1959 Ford Ranchero
I bought my first Hotrod when i was about 17 or 18. A 1948 ford Anglia with a Holden 308 v8 engine & Trimatic auto trans. I joined the Whakatane Rod & Custom about a year after that. A couple of years after that i started building a Hemi powered model A roadster on 32 rails. I sold it as a rolling chassis & body to help fund my first hotrod trip to the USA in 2001. While on that trip I got hooked on land speed racing, worked on a buddys car at both El Mirage & Bonneville where he set a new record. I ventured up into Canada where I bought a Early A roadster pickup body that I sent back home to New Zealand as a project. Once home I mocked up the pickup on a kiwi konnection 32 frame & had a 312 Y- block engine as a power plant. I got the oppertunity to buy my current ride A 59 Ranchero so I sold the model A & became the proud owner of the Ranchero & have driven the ass out of it ever since. Went back to the States in 2009 for Sturgis & Bonneville & am currently planing to build something I can race at Bonneville myself.
