Mechanical Mysteries in Martinez

My buddy shot these pics through the glass of the closed Contra Costa Historical Society in Martinez, Ca. back in the Spring of ’08. The exhibit was called “Mechanical Mysteries, a series of doo-dads, whatchamacallits and thingamabobs” created by local artist Bob Schultz… I love how every part he uses feels cohesive in each art piece- Like it all belongs together naturally, with matching patina, similar materials, and made in the same era. Mr. Schultz obviously loves radial aircraft, old tractors, and pre-WWI mechanical stuff. My kinda guy. Check out the Harley muffler used as a cannon on the front of the “Teutonic Toy”. I really want that little Bonneville racer with the aluminum wheels in my living room.
