An Update From The Store…

So this is the time of year that I am typically getting the shipping and receiving department up to snuff in preparation for shipping a ton of merch out for the holidays. The process actually starts in late spring or early summer – coming up with and designing crap I’d want for myself in hopes you guys follow suit. And I did that this year…

In fact, I came up with a couple of different things that I was hoping to sell this year. The first is actually absurdly cool. I found a pallet of toolboxes that was never delivered to the United States Army in 1957 and had been sitting in a shipping container ever since. Each was pre-drilled for an identification plate that was never riveted on. My plan was to make my own ID plate, rivet them on, and then sell the boxes as roadside tool kits.

Rad, right? I got quotes for the acid etched plates in August, placed my order, and have been placed on hold twice since. A few weeks ago, I was told the cost of the pates were now triple my original quote price due to supply chain issues and that they couldn’t guarantee delivery before January 1.

Also, the custom cardboard boxes I ordered to protect the original US Army shipping boxes were cancelled all together by the manufacturer. I never really got a reason out of them…

My other product idea met similar hurdles and I just wasn’t in the mood to design another t-shirt or hat. So, I’ve decided not to play the game this year. I don’t want to disappoint folks with delayed shipping times or come across as flippant when shit doesn’t ship at all.

At the end of the day, I typically only sell stuff that is made in the USA… and my stuff isn’t important enough to add load to a supply chain that is already overloaded. So, yeah… I’m out this year. And I think it’s best for everyone.

Maybe I’ll do a sale or something on the limited stock of crap I do have. I haven’t thought much about it, but I did want to get this news out there for those that are waiting or judging. Things are super cool here – we are just biding time and waging war is all.
