The Bucket List for 2017

The Bucket List for 2017

As 2016 comes to a close, I think back to what was accomplished in the past year, and what still remains that I plan to check off my list (or at least move forward on) in 2017. The goal of this exercise isn’t to feel bad about what didn’t get done, but rather to remember all the good things that actually came to pass, and keep working towards the unfulfilled bucket list items that I want to experience or finish in the coming year. Life is short, and I’ve seen to many buddies put off chasing their car dreams for their entire life. Here’s to checking things off the list!

2016 Accomplishments:

  1. Got the Indian 50cc minibike running and taught my kids how to ride it. That was cool.
  2. Finished a 2 year long air cooled 911 project (not a real hot rod, but worth noting).
  3. Invited to be an honorary judge at Pebble Beach Concours. This was a long time dream of mine.
  4. Celebrated 15 years of marriage. She’s put up with my car shenanigans for that long!
  5. Made it to the first West Coast TROG in my ’57 Safari.

2017 Goals:

  1. Get the ’39 Mercury back on the road, new interior, top, etc. It deserves to be a nice car.
  2. Attend the Grand National Roadster Show. I’ve missed the past 4 or 5 events because of work.
  3. Go back to Bonneville. Can’t wait to get back on the salt. Hopefully help a team in some way.
  4. Work towards a bigger and better garage/ workshop. I want more room to work on my cars.
  5. Go back to TROG at Pismo and maybe even race something this year!

OK, what are you doing in 2017?
