What is that thing in Henry’s Garage?

I recently toured the Henry Ford ‘Fair Lane’ Estate, which he and Clara had built and lived in for the last 30 years of their lives. This massive residence located along the Rouge River was constructed in 1915, and is currently under restoration to a pain-staking 100% accurate 1919 era specification. The 31,000 square foot manor was really something to behold, but I probably got the most enjoyment out of two particular spaces: The hydro-electric powerhouse (running power from the river), and the large garage with workshop above. All of this leads me to my actual post topic: The strange Model A-based dual cowl ‘Sport Phaeton’ parked in the garage. It was Edsel Ford’s custom-built car that infused European design into an otherwise fairly constrained body design. The more I looked, the more interesting little bits of detail I found that set this touring body apart: Curved door tops, oversized headlamps, exquisite door hardware, etc. I only had a moment to snap pictures, and the room lightning was horrible, but luckily I found images and the whole history of this car here.
