Pet Speed Secrets (of 1952)

Pet Speed Secrets (of 1952)

Fawcett Book #156 (How To Build HOT RODS) has been the gold mine that keeps on giving, through articles on racing classes, chopping, and more. One gem I forgot to share is an insightful piece on getting the most power from your motor, “Pet Speed Secrets”, which features experts of racing describing what works for them. I’m not tossing around the words ‘hot rod icons’ when describing the seven authors Barney Navarro, Lou Baney, Ray Brown, Alex Xydias, Lou Senter, Bill Likes, and Chet Herbert. If you don’t know who any of these gentlemen are, you won’t have to research very long to find out that they each paved the way in the world of speed equipment and racing. Give the articles a read and you’ll be surprised to find out how sage the majority of their hop up advice is. Sure, engine technology has advanced far in the past 64 years, but some of the core principals of performance are timeless. Enjoy!
