The Story of the Jive Five

Mark Morton’s 32 Ford 5 window has always fascinated me… I knew it was a fairly modern-built car running a Small Block, and that the patina was largely ‘manufactured’, but something about it still felt like an ‘old soul’. Many years ago I was the Editor for Hop Up Magazine, and Mark let me drive the Jive Five back to the hotel one night after it had been on display in our booth at Pomona. That car sat just right- Higher in the back and slammed in the nose, the motor sounded perfect, and she had all the hot rod attitude in the world. It was one of the most thrilling drives of my life- Mark was even toying with selling it at that point, but it was way out of my price range in those days. I just came across this 2011 video with Mort telling a little bit about how the Jive Five came to be, and figuring it was worth sharing:
