Car Craft “Grab Bag” Part 2: Hot Rod Tails

Car Craft “Grab Bag” Part 2: Hot Rod Tails

The Grab Bag continues with the hot rod version of what we saw in Part 1: This time it’s tail end treatments for Roadsters. Here’s an opportunity to look a variety of traditional hot rod rear end treatments, including lights, plate brackets and stance, captured in 1954. At first glance you might observe that ’50 Pontiac and ’39 Teardrop taillights were the extremely popular hot rod choice, but it’s also obvious that California’s fender laws were likely being enforced at this time, as a 4 out of the 5 cars have some sort of cycle fenders applied. You’ve got a lot of choice here- Channeled low or hopped up high boy, maybe a rolled pan or a chrome tube bumpers. Which tail end do you fancy here?
