Nick Cozzitorto’s ’52 F-100

Nick Cozzitorto’s ’52 F-100

We are running around like a bunch of damned chickens sans heads here at The Jalopy Journal Word HQ today. The act of shipping calendars rules the day, so my daily feature on the site is gonna have to be short and sweet – and it was while loading up the bed of my own F-100 with calendars to be shipped that I thought of it’s subject – Nick Cozzitorto’s ’52. You know, the purple truck… It was on the cover of the July, 1954 issue of Rod & Custom Magazine.

Winfield actually built the truck twice. The R&C cover version is the first iteration. It was a clean and simple early styled custom. Later, in around 1957, Nick took the truck back to Winfield and had him get aggressive with it. Gene channeled the truck over 5-inches, added a ’56 Chrysler Windsor grille, 52′ Ford passenger headlights, and ’49 Desoto bumpers. The end result was sinister enough to catch the attention of Car Craft – they gave the truck a second feature in June of 1958.

Even cooler though? After all the features, Nick took the flathead out of the truck and wedged in a 392 Hemi. He regularly did over 105 mph at the drags.

Anyway, behold:

…………….
