Hot Rod Racing!

So we have a member in our ranks that doubles as a fancy hollywood type. He’s a hot rodder first and foremost, but in his spare time he makes summer blockbusters and mingles with starlets. The man can pull some wool… and I’d give him much more grief for it if he wasn’t so damned down to earth. As it stands, he gets a pass. For now.

Plus, he’s good for something. Just this morning he sent over some found footage. I feel like I’ve seen some of it before, but I don’t believe I’ve seen this exact cut in this specific context. This seems longer and rougher than what I remember, almost as if this is the raw footage as it came off the 8mm.

Regardless of where it’s from and when it was taken, it is one gorgeous peak into what an early roadster race must have been like. Young daredevils gassing their way around a small track with no regard for health or the future – hellbent on winning or getting hurt in the effort. To me, this is what racing really is.
