Ooh That Smell…

Ooh That Smell…

We often wax poetic about the look of a nicely patinaed hot rod or old custom, and plenty has been said about the sound of a finely-tuned jalopy. But what about the smell? I think it’s worth noting what hits your nose when you crack the door open on an original mohair interior car, or sneak a sniff from a rich-running flathead. Maybe I’m being weird here, but I’ll admit it: I really like the smell of an old car. The scent of aged leather seats in a 60 year old Cadillac gets me more buzzed than any cup of coffee in the world. When I go to a swap meet and pick up an NOS speed part in the original box, the first thing I do is check out the graphics, crack it open, take a peak, and then finally, huff a little of that gas you only get from crusty car parts. Yes, it may be bizarre… But I know I’m not alone. What’s your favorite old car smell? Fess up.
