George Cerny Restyles…

December of 1955. Car Craft Magazine. George Cerny and his brother Carl were challenged with restyling a car that I’ve never appreciated much – the ’46 to ’48 Ford coupe. To me, the sedans are the lookers from this period as the coupes have always had awkward proportions to my eye. George and Carl set off to fix these proportions with an aggressive chop, a ’55 Chevrolet inspired front-end, and some other modifications aimed at giving the car a skinnier profile.

I think it works… But that’s not really why I posted this. I just love the layout of the article itself – rough illustrations framed by mug shots of the thugs responsible for the idea. Brilliant.
