In the afterglow of the HAMB Drags (which I’m really sorry I missed this year), it seems appropriate to show some old 8mm drag footage from Deer Park Raceway in Spokane, Washington, unearthed by Greg Fury who is a drag racing historian for the track and an early “Dragins” Race Team member. This is excellent quality color film that appears to have been shot in 1961 or ’62 at the latest and runs over 13 minutes long. There are some great drags with roadsters, slingshots, motorcycles and experimental jobs… It looks like a real “run what ya brung” event with everyone just having a good time with some friendly competition and no drama. Sound familiar? Congrats to Ryan and the gang again for another successful year of the Drags. Ya know, 40 or 50 years from now, kids might be looking at old footage from our HAMB events and wishing they were around to be part of it too…
In any case, enjoy some great motion pictures here.
