Here's the deal Im currently updating the suspension on my 39' ford sedan and I have been wanting to get into a vintage style of drag racing and seen what you all have going on and I think this might be for me.So here's some of the parts I have laying around the shop. 42' ford wishbones and stock 39' axle and 39' front spring 39' top loader 3sp 39' spindels schroder steering box and a few pitman arms 39' banjo rear kirky highback alum racing seat gutted midget tail tank with a 5gal tank in side 235 and 261 chevy stovebolts 2x1 Tatersfield intake 3x1 offy intake some friction shocks 4 15"x6" ford wheels mid 50' gm 3spd So this is some of the parts I already have. What do you think is this worth doing with what I have listed? This is something that wouldn't happen anytime soon(got to get the 39' back together first)but is something im looking forward to. Also how much of this racing goes on out in cali? thanks
A lot of that stuff will work. The most intriguing thing you listed is the midget tail and tank. Many early rails incorporated midget and sprint car tails. I'd like to see an Hambster with a midget tail. Do you have any pictures of the tail?
I don't have a pic of it but im also not at home right now but I will get some pics when I get back to the house. Do you think a banjo rear can handle the chevy 6's? If not maybe I can score somethin else for an engine like a flat six or something.I do have another rear but I don't think it would be correct it's out of a 60's chevelle. If I do this I would like to stay period correct.
Sounds cool. The banjo should manage it. Joe and Roger are going to finish their full body HAMBster's body work at some point with a "Glass Slipper"esque tail piece. It'll likely come out looking rather like what you're talking about as well. That'd make two cars of the style. As to how much racing is going on out here ....... We presently have six venues per year, and working on a seventh. Four at Butch's ANRA meets at Bakersfield, another there also at Randy's Dragfest and one at Fontana, the Antique Nationals. The one we're working on next is still in the planning stages, it's to be at Eagle Field in central Cal and is Rocky's baby. ps. Where in SoCal are you? I'm not far from the Rose Bowl.
Yeah, didn't think about that it would be kinda cool. I guess another option I have is to put my 354 chry poly in the 39' instead and put the flathead in a HA/GR then wouldn't have to get adapt to put a 235 up to a 39' trans.
I second the cool factor. Sounds like you have a good start. When you start the build keep us up to date with pics.
When I start this I will do a complete build pic on here.Where are you running in cali other than Famosa? What seems to be the engine of choice?
Just the Nat's at Fontana, the other five present venues are at Famoso. So far it's all sixes, Chev leading. running: 3+1 Rocky & Lee's Ford, our slant, Joe & Roger's Chev. Cindy's Chev visits from Vegas. building: 2+4 Dick's Chev, Tom's Dodge flattie. Four more in the works, not much info except all sixes, one of'em Chev.
Again Kel,, Where are you located in So.Cal.????? Another one that is in the process of being built. Is Sparky and JRs. also Chev 6 powered... Dick..
Go to the next ANRA race at Formosa. on the 20-21st of this month. Some of us will be there..Would like to meet ya...
3x1 offy intake If you have not sold, How much and are you willing to ship Money order from post office. let me know. Tony
lol... this isn't the for sale or classified section. I don't think he wants to sell it, but everything does have it's price. Is there any HA/GR's in San Diego? I've always wondered where the line is that divides NorCal and SoCal. I should be moving to San Diego this August, but can't bring the HA/GR right away. I would like to meet up sometime with you guys. -David
No not selling anything right now sorry just looking to put my extra parts to use.And this seems like a good use. Would love to catch up with some people at Famosa but don't know that I will be back in town that weekend or not.If not I will for sure have to make the next race.
