sadly, Family moved too many times and many photos, etc were lost - best one I had was 1955 210 sedan - 265, 3 speed on floor, pale blue and white pleated interior, faded silver, 2 chrome wheels - was totaled in a wreck when hit by a drunk

Summer of 68 bought this 55 for $125 dollars out of a farmer barn yard. 265 two speed auto.
The farmer said it had a hot rod motor that’s all he knew about it.
After about two months the motor and transmission were on the garage floor mostly junk except the solid lifter cam. That was the only thing I could find worth anything on the hot rod motor. Ended up building a 60 over 283 power pack heads the solid lifter cam from the hot rod motor. Converted it to a 3 speed manual transmission. Picked up a set of 270 hp dual quads and a gm dual point distributor.
A lot of things fell into place that summer and a lot of help from the guys at the local gas station. That station became my favorite hangout for the next several years. I was educated in a lot more than just mechanics in the next few years. Great time in my life for sure.

Sorry about the bad pic's. They are the only one's in existence. I built this '29 CCPU in my junior and senior years in high school. Drove it to school the last 2 weeks. These pic's are just before heading to the Bunker Hill Drags in June of '68. Best time of 11.34.

I drove this 50 Chevy fastback my last year in school, I paid $30 for it with a cracked block, got a block from a garage that was throwing a useable block Scan 1.jpeg away, freshened it up for $45 and drove it until I traded it in on a 49 Ford which cost $99 and they gave me $75 for my Chevy on the trade in.

My apologies..that picture was January, 1968 in Phx., AZ. That Camaro is a brand new, Z28 with real deal polished
magnesium halibrands...my high school buddy who we street raced together...still friends to this day, AND he ran the Camaro into the ground, BUT, he has done very well since and found what was left of it and did a complete restoration on it. He also got into collecting Halibrands and here is just a small portion of his collection. He has never gotten rid of even one of them. He dropped out of high school his junior year, but has done it his way, and is VERY happy. And his is just a regular Joe....and a good friend! 6. My high school ride was an OT 1965 Ford pony car ( a 75 LTD station wagon,MOMs car, when the "pony" was down) BUT right after I graduated, I bought my 1936 Chevrolet pick up (avatar). That's all I got, no pictures obviously Mitch.

My first vehicle is a1950 Ford pickup truck. I bought it and my dad said it was a little fence foolish! We fixed the king pins etc and bought new tires ( which cost more than the truck ) soon after. I picked up another flathead engine and made one good one in auto shop in school. Then I knew some older modified racers ( they were done flathead racing by then ) and I got hop up parts from them. Heads, dual carbs and manifolds. We got ignition for it too. It ran real good and after 14,000 miles it kicked a wrist pin into a cylinder wall. At that point I found a 302 Chevy engine and a 4 speed and installed it. It was a lot more fun with the Chevy engine. Then a year later I started racing circle track race cars so we pulled the 302 and put the 307 out of the camaro race car in the truck. I still have the truck and two parts trucks. I will reunite the engine and my truck again sometime. Gary

Junior year I fell upon a one owner '56 D-500 Hemi Dodge cpe. In a few months I learned that stopping quick is more important than going Quick. Then came a one owner '57 210 2 door. The 235 couldn't stand up to my lead foot. I located, with the help of some savvy motorheads, a rebuilt overbored 283. Fitted a Hurst to a three speed along with $35 worth of genuine Chevrolet conversion parts: pedal, bellcrank, ball brkt, adjuster rod, fork, bearing and of course a bell housing. Finding the fun of showing the off my treasure, brought me to need to re-up senior year....twice. Just out of school came a gutted ex drag '55 Nomad. The 210 provided the necessities to run it. At the same time I found a '30 A coupe shell. Life was good!

64 Bonneville. 421, two Carter afb carbs, 4 speed Super Hydro, 3.08 9.3 posi (57-64 Olds/Pontiac). It had an old pair of steel packs that some old time hotrodder gave me. I think they were called Hollywood noise makers. I ended up putting a pair of small resonators on the tail pipes. Wow did that car sound nice!! Silver with black interior, reverb... It was a little rough but it cleaned up well. It was sitting under the Bloomfield Bridge for years. In Pittsburgh we don't have barn finds we have under the bridge finds..

Mine was a '64 Chevelle Model 300 Malibu- four doors with a six-cylinder 230 and Powerglide. Jacked up as high as the air shocks would go. Not as cool as some but I had a lot of great times in that car.

Here I am with the 55 bel air hardtop I bought with may paper route money (40 bucks) when I was 12. I was a Junior in high school when this was taken

This picture was taken in 1984 , after I attended the 82 KKOA leadsled show in Des Moines I got the custom bug and my car got lowered and nosed decked and shaved with whitewalls. 552.jpg

This was taken in the mid 90's. I sold the car in 2000 after putting over 100,000 miles on it with bias ply tires, drum brakes and ignition points..... probably should have kept it

1984 from our High School paper. When I had no tattoos and lots of hair. Not sure why I didn't take more pics of it. Check out the air between the fender and the tires. Gabriel Hijackers was all the rage in Oklahoma circa 1984. I still have it, btw.
