I'm showing some of my work in a local gallery and the opening's this Friday night at Chroma Glass Designs, 4242 Atlantic Avenue, Long Beach. (details) http://www.firstfridayslongbeach.com/news.html Off topic? How about the shop/gallery owner's Dad owns two '40 Fords, and the family's second car when she was growing up was a '34 Roadster? Anyway, If any of ya want to see some art and munch on cheese and crackers and drink some wine, it's happening from 7 - 10 tomorrow night. No, it's not exactly "car art", but I'll try to have my '40 GMC parked out front.
Hey DrJ, Any chance that stone is in the shape of your '60 ElCamino? 'Sounds like a cool way to spend Friday night. Swankey Devils C.C.
"John M****** S*******, a sculptor, deals with developing surface contours and edges that interact and flow around, through and into each other. His works are carved abstract forms, for which he coins sometimes-whimsical titles as the forms develop and start to resemble recognizable images—much like visualizing elephants or dragons in cloud formations." is this you? sometimes whimsical? i'm stealin' this quote for a craigslist personal ad. it should get me a hot little chick to be my 'model'....
Ok, for those who aren't exactly "freeway close" I also sometimes carve wood: I call this "All Day Marshmallow Peanut"
When I was a kid they had these marsmallow peanut candy thingys sorta like the Easter "Peeps" but looked like a peanut, obviously. After I carved this it sorta reminded me of the shape but being about the size of a Rugby ball I called it an "All Day" one. That's all. It's "Non-representational Abstract" but like the cloud formations, if anyone's going to get the first "I think it looks like a..." it's going to be me! And thanks, Nads.
