My friend Mathew (a recent lurker to the HAMB) had a momentary laps in judgment and unfortunately it cost him the front end of his pick up. I'm sure this is one of everyone's worst nightmares and it couldn't have happened to a nicer guy. Mathew only suffered a broken nose and fractured a bone in his arm. His injuries will certainly not keep him down. If anyone has a Ford of the same vintage or would like to send him a positive message please contact him at [email protected] or post comments here and he will also see them. He is on the lookout for front sheet metal and another Chrysler grill and headlights.
I'm sorry to hear that... local guy around here had the same luck with his Ford truck a while back, sliding it off a cliff and fucking up the front end. Glad to hear your buddy is alright though...
was that truck at carlisle a year or so ago?...maybe for sale?...i think i have a picture of it somewhere
Sure looks like that could ruin a good day. Is there any frame damage, or just sheet metal and cowl area? Frank
Damn it thats sucks, me and my friend Tyson cruized around in that truck in Laramie a few years back with Matt and Thomas aka poop, itsa very nice truck...Danny
That was my brother Mike in Tracy. And he more like flew off a 20ft cliff. He walked away with only minor injuries.
Don't know if the frame suffered any damage, Thank God that the rear fenders didn't get taken out, the wheel openings have been cut out, sectioned down to fit the wheel and to match the front fender, welded back in and completely metal finished. His work is outstanding.
Didn't he have that truck at the KOA Double Date last year? It sucks that he wrecked it, but on the bright side, it's a chance to make it better and wilder. I've seen his skills and it won't be hard for him.
Arrgh, that sucks. The one real drawback of owning old cars You can't just go to the dealership and say "Here's an insurance check, please order me a new front end"
Damn that sucks!! I've got 4 fenders, two I think are off a 53-56 F100 and 2 are off my 54 F250 I had. I've also got a rust free front valance and I've got a pair of inner fender aprons but I just threw them on ebay. The F100 fenders I've got have had some bad patch jobs done to the top rear corners and the fronts just above were the air deflectors bolt to the top. But the parts that are bad on the F100 fenders I've got good sections on my F250 fenders. I'd let all 4 go for $100. But I'm in Minnesota.
Ouch!!! Good to hear he is safe! Ill sell him my 51 for what I paid for it. ($600 without the other truck with the bed. It cost me $400 to get it to my house, but I can eat that) Its a Good cab and front clip with very, very mininmal rust. Its on a good frame too. All he would need to do is add his bed and change the suspension over to what he had. Itd cost him a bit to get it all the way over there though.
OUCH! Glad to hear that Matt was ok and wasnt seriously hurt. I'm also glad that the hit was contained to the front end and not on the cab, from a safety perspective. I'll keep my eye out for some panels if I see any while scrounging around. Might be worth a quick buzz down to Speedway and see if they might have some panels. This is definately my worst nightmare with my car, getting nailed after doing so much hard work. I wont stop driving it though!
Did this guy go to wyo-tech by any chance? I seen a very similar truck last year at Americruise east that was part of a display for wyo-tech. Sorry to hear of his misfortune. later plmczy
Matt was an Instructor at Wyo for a while just left about a year ago. He is very talented but ugly in the face. ...Danny
