After 25 years of collecting parts and raising family and starting bussiness, etc., I am just about to start on my '32 pickup. I have a '46 flathead, T-5 trans, and plan to go fenderless with a 6" channel and 3" chop. I am planning a traditional style "old school" look. Would gold metalflake paint on the cab and box be a sin?
Is that a bad thing? I really wonder as I am considering flat black or gold metalflake, just to be different and add sort of a period "shock value".
It's your truck do what YOU want, Suggest you mock it up to see of you fit with 6" channel and 3" chop. Lookoig cool but being yunable to drive it and distance sucks.
it would be more of a sin if it was another hot rod in the sea of flat black... not that theres a problem with f.b. but a painted hot rod will be more of an attention grabber in the sea of primer, but if the fit and finish of the car doesn't match the paint job it might look a bit akward, and definetly go with the chromies w/ wide whites for that early 60's look. good luck on the project and post pictures!!
Since when does the members of this board dictate what you like? Hell, it's your car....Turn it into a Gremlin if you want...............
It would put it solidly in the late 50's early 60's , keep that in mind when selecting the details you choose to include in the build.
It's not a question of anyone "dictating" anything to me, it is just that I was looking for opinions from people with more experience. I just want to get that late 50's - early 60's feel, without trying to build an exact period correct replica. I want it to be the way I want it right now today in 2006. '
Personally I like the gold. If you really want to look like a 61 Car Craft you could always upholster the inside of the fenders. Thats a look I'm glad has fallen by the wayside.
I have a flat black 33 pick up, and with that said, i'd say go gold.. The black is easy to maintain and all, and i don't worry about it at all, but it's about as boring as can be.....i know when it come's time to redo mine, it's not going to be black unless it shines.. Gold flake would look killer in my worthless oppinion.... Tony
