WoW Fritz, cool job, I wonder what it would take to make a woodie out of one of my 41 chevy pickups,, hmmmmm, $$,$$$.$$ ?? I went to look at your profile expecting to see some more woodies, man, all I found was door hinges,, lol
Here is one a buddy built. He traded it for a couple nice rods and it is on Hot Rod Hotline right now.
my '51 woodie was no where as fancy as ones posted here. but,if you want some Woodie Pictures, and more, check out my ad here in Classifieds, Misc For Sale : Woodie, Surf, Islands Memorabilia
As you can probably relate, my wife is not a car nut. She does however tag along to some shows. No pun intended, but, the one type of vehicle she gets up for is a Woodie. She'll start asking a ton of questions and make sure I've taken a picture of it. She'll talk about how much fun it would be to have it "on island' in S.C. during the summer. I'll explain to her how hard they are to come by and how much $ it costs to purchase/ upkeep. There is a junkyard thread w/ a recent picture of a woody from the '50's. I just can't imagine how people could just toss them and not realize that a wood-bodied car would be worth something some day. (I know there was probably more to the fact that they were discarded.)
My old gasser '47 barn woodie. 365 horse 327, fenderwell headers, 4 speed, ladder bars. I put lots of fun miles on this one.
I believe this Jail Bar was a Post Office item. Pic was taken at a yard clearance in the early 80s and im sure this was saved. JW
