Wolf Whistle Question.....

Discussion in 'The Hokey Ass Message Board' started by 47Plym, Dec 25, 2007.

  1. Santa brought a vacuum operated wolf whistle for the 47 Plym.

Went out and looked under the hood to see about mounting it. Needs to
be in a position to be operated by pulling the lever on the back end. Also
taps into the vacuum system, so need to find a handy place to do that.

So.....who has such a whistle on their car, and how/where did you connect it and how did you mount it? Thanks for any help.

I teed mine off the back of the intake and ran a few more pieces of pipe to get it in a position to "pull its chain"

Weren't the originals gray or silver hammer tone paint? I found an NOS decal for mine at the Turkey run and I want to use the right paint.

  4. They came in hammertone grey and red... that I know of.

    FWIW

"Vintage" ones also came in Chrome.

  6. I found a original in the original box for 10 cents at a yard sale.

Plumbed mine into the intake with a brass 90. But I wasn't able to get a straight pull on mine so I used a brake cable off an old bicycle. Worked well.

Thay came in both chrome and grey with Wolf whistle decal (mine is original)

  9. Mount it as close as possible to intake. I have a steel cable attached to a lever in my 47 Ford. You won't see (hear) many of them but they are lots of fun. They're a lot louder if you don't have a hood.

Man, I'm glad someone asked this question! I have one of these as well and felt like a dumbass because the concept is simple but I couldn't find a good spot to put it and have it all hooked up! Why do they even bother sending that cheesey clear tubing in the box? That stuff sucks down flat just from sucking on it! It would be useless at manifold vaccum.
Anyone else have pics of these installed? I'd like to get some more ideas as to where to put mine.
