You're right, it's wierd seeing seeing a project go from a pile of parts, to a CAR, with one step! It's an "Ah-Ha!" moment. Nice job.

How long till it sees the sunshine for some wide angle shots?
    Great job.

  8. G'day, saw that other thread, interesting how the method changes but the vision is shared over time.

make the effort to paint it, appreciate that it will be alot of work, but, by the same token, each part of this car hasn't been a 'bolt-on' affair, so make your work count.

search.....you'll be amazed what you find.

    Cheers,

Ok so I had to pull the 40 out of the shop to get motivated on some other projects.
The last week or so I bailed on the sheetmetal work,
and tried to button up the suspension.
(it was never on front wheels)
After a couple brain-farts the front-end finally came together,
with a temporary fake spring anyway.
Also put some steering in to make it easier to move.
Fortunately there was plenty of clearance , just shortened the drag link and column/shaft.

The engine looks crazy, it hadn't been out since the headers were made.

I was really stoked cause there are no clearance issues with the scrub line,
so it could go lower later on with some reversed eyed springs.

    Looks good.

    Lets see the other project.

  14. That is turning out Rad! It is starting to look like a lakes coupe & would fit right in at a Russetta lakes meet in 1951.

zibo, I still love the coupe man. You're doing great work.

I dig the little carbie sitting in the breeze! :D For some reason it kinda reminds me of E.T. when he's flying in the bike.

Naaaa, he knows what I'm talkin about. I'm hoping he's going to start a killer thread on that bitchen car sometime soon.;)

But, as a coincidence, you can see it in the background of that photo you posted.:D And it makes me warm and fuzzy when I see it coming together and looking like an actual car.

Come on Luke, don't f@*% with me, I'm getting gray hairs over it. Well, something's causing the grays.

  23. What about a bitchen thread on a killer car? would that be ok? And they only reason it came down from the celling is because cole needed a better doghouse. There's enough chopped model A coupe builds on here. TP's said hes going for the doghouse art sculpture angle. We even got one of those big dog "get off the porch" type shirts in the works to fund the satin lined dog bed.

and...Your getting gray hairs because you "type a mean paragraph"...

Travis, it is good to see the car outside. I really like the car with chop and all. Proportions look good. Looking forward to seeing more progress.

Neal, The work you did on Travis's car is great. It helps me to imaginr it as a completed ride.

    Damn, You got me!

I thought you made one! If you decide too, I still have two carb bases that can be welded in.

I was hopin' someone would ask that question. I noticed it too. A log manifold for 3 carbs should be easy for someone that can make those headers.

Yeah with a couple mouse clicks Neal has added about 2 weeks of work for me!
(ok with the front mounted distributor about 4 weeks)

I was thinking of a log manifold but have always heard they didn't drive well on the street.
    Any thoughts about that?
I think it would be cool to make one out of aluminum,
thicker 1/4" plate though not the sheetmetal kind.
(but 38's blower would kick ass!)

Anyway didn't have time to post up these pics earlier so heres some comparison pics...

    Compared to the green one,
there is a 3.5" chop, 1.25" section, 3" lower in front, 5" lower in back.

A log manifold would be easy, but unless racing, not that user friendly. Modifieying the stock intake is easy, and will probably work better!

Travis, I have the two end carb bases cut, if you need them. You would just have to tap the threads after welding them in!;)
