This is probably common knowledge but, I have a new to me vehicle and everytime I hit the old power windows the regulator pulls off the bottom of the window. I know how to get the windows back on but, what kind of glue/cement ect to I use to keep the window in the channel of the regulator? I am sick of not being able to roll down my windows, and I fart way too much not to be able to roll the windows down. Will black permetex work? I am sure the answer will make me feel like an idiot. Thanks GEno
The correct way is to pull the glass and the lower channel and re-set the glass with the proper thickness of channel "tape", the black stuff in a roll that is designed for that purpose. It comes in several thicknesses so you need to use the thickest stuff you can. Glue or silicone won't stay put.
Do they sell the channel tape at AutoZone or Napa, because that is pretty much my only choice for me in Wyoming. Geno
any glass shop will have it. the factories switched to adhesives years ago. don't use any type silicone product. ureathane works well. make sure you use an inch of channel ( or otheer spacer to center the glass in the channel
My Chevy, the channel was a little rough, so I POR-15'ed it, put the rubber into it, squeezed it down a bit, and put the glass in. It seems to be okay, I haven't rolled it down in a while but I could go up and down once it was all installed again. Pretty sure I ran some of the same black stuff I got to use when I put the windshield in it, in the rubber before the glass went in, too.
